Classroom Technology Room Types
View the Technology Classrooms page for more information about using or reserving technology classrooms. Rooms are categorized depending on their intended use and provided equipment. View the list below for explanations of each room type and their streaming or recording capabilities
Room types
Standard Technology (Tech): Touch panel room control system, 1 or 2 ceiling mounted projector(s), retractable screen(s), networked PC computer with 1 or 2 monitors, instructor lectern, document camera, USB webcam, portable device connection, room audio, gooseneck microphone, additional mics based on room size or configuration. Room is capable of livestreaming and recording.
General Purpose Classrooms: Available to a broad range of programs at WVU.
Departmental Classrooms and Conference Rooms: Scheduled by the WVU academic department designated for that room.
HSC ONLY: Only Health Sciences Center (HSC) faculty/staff can reserve the room. Most HSC rooms include power outlets per seat for students. Some rooms have TVs/monitors instead of projectors. Anything labeled “Department only” may only be reserved by said department.
Classroom – GP Standard Tech: 1 or 2 ceiling mounted projector(s), retractable screen(s), networked PC computer, document camera, USB webcam, portable device connection, gooseneck microphone, additional mics based on room size or configuration, and room audio. Room is capable of livestreaming and recording.
Classroom – Active Learning, Standard Tech: Same as the “Classroom – GP Standard Tech” except room has moveable tables/chairs and may include multiple displays for large collaborative or small group work.
Classroom – GP, Plug-N-Play: Bring your own device to this room because there is no in-room computer at the lectern. Connection options include HDMI and many others. Room has 1 or 2 display projector(s), retractable screen(s), and audio.
Computer Lab, Standard Tech: Same as the “Classroom – GP Standard Tech” except there is a computer at each student seat. Certain labs may have a third projector/screen.
iDesign = Classroom Technology: Classrooms that are equipped with iDesign are supported by WVU’s iDesign technology group. There are two types of iDesign Classrooms: standard and computer lab. iDesign-Standard classrooms are equipped with iDesign “IDSC" including: a PC with a DVD drive, a document camera, a touch panel control system, a projector, and an input panel.
Stream/record options
Livestream and recording is available in all rooms except for those labeled as below:
Record Only: Includes everything listed under “Classroom – GP Standard Tech” but due to networking constraints the room is only capable of recording and not livestreaming.
No Recording: Includes everything listed under “Plug-N-Play” but recording is not an option in this room.
