Navigate Mobile App FAQ
If you have a question about the Navigate mobile app (also known as Guide), view our FAQ.
What is it?
Navigate is a powerful, predictive new tool from the Educational Advisory Board that sifts through concrete data in a matter of seconds, giving advisors and instructors information that may help students stay in school, succeed and, ultimately, graduate.
Why is it important?
It identifies at-risk students with unprecedented opportunities to create markers and intervention points for those who might not traditionally show up as at risk. It also helps advisors identify students who have average or even good grades, but who might still benefit from additional support.
Retention is a critical part of WVU’s mission: President E. Gordon Gee wants to increase enrollment at WVU by 7,000 students, to a system-wide total of 40,000, with a retention rate of 90 percent.
Can you give an example of how it's been beneficial so far?
Early users have found it helpful in working with students on academic probation. They can see if the students have attended Mid-Year Academy if they have met with a success coach and more. As more units start to use Navigate, more information will become available.
Do other universities use this?
Yes. WVU is one of five schools beta testing this new product. We began piloting the tool with the Educational Advisory Board (EAB) in fall 2015. The first users were: Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, the College of Business and Economics; Eberly College of Arts and Sciences; and WVU Athletics.
How do I get access?
Please contact Amanda Debastiani to discuss access.
Will students have access, and how will they use it?
The mobile application will be available for students. Initially, they will be able to use it to schedule appointments with their advisors. Later, more functions will be added.
