Creating a Student Perception of Instruction Survey

At the end of every semester, students are asked to take part in surveys to help instructors understand how they can improve and enhance the learning experience. To create or set up a survey, instructors must follow these steps:

  1. Log in to eXplorance Blue Dashboard.

  2. Complete the View and Manage Questionnaire Settings task. This is the first step in setting up your survey and it is available in the Dashboard.

  3. Configure the survey timing and opt-in.

    1. In the View and Manage Questionnaire Settings task, you can choose to opt-in to a survey by default.

    2. Set timing for survey delivery, either Scheduled or Manual, as required.

    3. Complete any other necessary tasks and monitor the response rate after the survey opens.

  4. Schedule the survey.

    1. After the Survey Timing has been set for delivery, set the Start and End Dates for the survey.

    2. Click Apply Changes to save the Start and End Dates.

  5. Personalize the questions.

    1. In the Question Personalization task, select any additional questions that you wish to add to the survey.

      • There are 3 Required Questions and these are unable to be changed.

      • Instructors are suggested to limit optional questions to those only applicable to their classes.

    2. Click Show Section to access available additional questions under each section.

    3. Once the survey is done, instructors can preview it by clicking Save then Preview Questionnaire.

Sections of Questions that Instructor is is capable of adding to survey.
  6. Release the survey.

    • Once everything is complete, instructors must click Submit to release the survey to their students. The survey will not be sent to the students unless instructors click Submit.

    • Regardless of whether you choose to add additional questions, you must visit this task and click the Submit button to activate the survey.

    • If a Start and End Date are indicated, the survey will be triggered and ready to release once the Start Date is reached as long as the instructor clicks Submit. If you have not set dates, the survey will be released immediately upon clicking Submit.

Scheduling the survey by setting the dates is highly recommended to ensure that the survey is delivered in a timely and organized manner. Failure to set the dates will result in the survey being released immediately upon clicking the Submit button.
