Drop or Withdraw From Classes FAQ
If you have a question about dropping or withdrawing from your classes, check the FAQ below.
How do I drop a class?
Sign into the WVU Portal using your Login credentials.
Click the STAR link.
From the main menu in STAR, click Student Services and Housing.
Click Access Registration Tools.
Click Add or Drop Classes.
Select the appropriate term.
In the bottom right section of the page, under the Action column, select Dropped Course on Web or Course dropped with a “W.”
Verify you are dropping the correct course and click Submit.
Note: If you do not click the “Submit” button in this section, you will NOT be dropped from the class(es) you have selected. You will be prompted with a message before leaving the screen if you have not submitted your changes. If you cannot navigate through STAR following the steps above, please contact the Office of the Registrar.
What is the last day to drop a class without a “W”?
The last day to drop a full term course without a “W” is during the first week of the semester. The drop dates vary depending on when the course begins and ends. The add and drop dates are available on this page.
How can I withdraw from all my classes for the semester?
You can drop all your classes online through your STAR account prior to the withdraw deadline published in the Academic Calendar if you have no holds. Alternatively, you can email the Office of the University Registrar from your MIX account at registrar@mail.wvu.edu. View their Withdrawl Policies for more information.
If I have a hold, how can I drop a course?
If you have a hold which is not letting you change your registration, you will either need to come into the WVU Hub or send an email to registrar@mail.wvu.edu from your MIX account explaining that you need to drop a course.
