Recycling Cisco Phones

WHAT TO DO WITH OLD PHONES:

As WVU transitions away from traditional office telephones, the WVU recycling program offers an opportunity to responsibly dispose of these phones and divert them from landfills. Each unit is responsible for disposing of their old Cisco phones.

Last year, WVU recycled 58 tons of electronics. Moving forward, the University’s transition to Zoom Phone will further support our recycling efforts.

Here’s what’s needed from your unit:

  • Identify one or more collection points in your building where the phones can remain until pick-up. Consider a centralized location that is easily accessible for collection.

  • WVU’s contracted recycling vendor collects electronics from campus on the first and third Thursday of each month.

  • Once your building has completed the collection process, please contact WVU conservation specialist Stephanie Toothman at Stephanie.Toothman@mail.wvu.edu  or (304) 293-9500 to schedule an electronics recycling pick-up. Be sure to contact Stephanie at least one week in advance to ensure your collection is added to the next available pick-up day.
