Connect a Google Device to WVU's Wi-Fi

Google Home devices, like Google Home or Chromecast, as well as the phone using the Google Home app, must be registered to your WVU Apogee account or the WVU MyDevices portal. If the device and the phone are not registered, setup cannot be completed.  

How to connect Google Home

1. After downloading the Google Home app onto your phone, add your phone to your WVU Apogee account or the WVU MyDevices portal using its MAC address.

   • Enter the MAC address in Apogee (Morgantown campus)

     1. Go to wvu.apogee.us.

     2. Click Add a Device.

     3. Select your device from the drop-down menu, name your device, and enter the MAC address.

     4. Click Add Device.

   • Enter the MAC address at MyDevices.wvu.edu (PSC and WVU Tech campuses)

     • Go to mydevices.wvu.edu.

     • Sign in with your Login credentials.

     • Click Add.

     • Enter the MAC address in the Device ID field.

2. After registering, connect to the appropriate network for your location (MyResNet or WVU.Play).

3. In the Google Home app, click the menu icon in the upper right-hand corner.

4. Connect to your Google device over wi-fi.

5. Click Devices in the left-hand menu.

6. Click (+) Add New Device.

7. Follow the prompts to setup your device.

8. After configuring your Google device to connect to the wireless network, the MAC address will be listed at the bottom of the screen.

9. Add the device’s MAC address to your WVU Apogee account or the WVU MyDevices portal.

10. Connect the device to the appropriate network for your location (MyResNet or WVU.Play).
