Web Browser VPN for Personal Devices

Web Browser VPN for Personal Devices

Clientless (SSL) VPN is a browser-based VPN, which allows employees to log into Applaud, view pay statements, or complete other administrative tasks from a browser. SSL VPN is open to all WVU employees and student workers. Users do not need to install anything and can access SSL VPN on their smartphones or mobile devices.

How to use Clientless (SSL) VPN

  1. Navigate to remote.wvu.edu and sign in with your WVU Login credentials.
Note: Remote.wvu.edu works on iPhones with the Safari browser, but not Chrome. On Android phones, the Chrome and Firefox browsers will work. Please note, however, that there are more mobile phone models and web browser combinations than Information Technology Services can test, and some combinations may not work. If you have problems, try a different browser. If none of the browsers work, you may need to use a laptop or desktop computer for access.

  2. Select an application and use the Okta Verify app to authenticate. The virtual desktop environment cannot recognize multi-factor hardware tokens connected to your physical device.

You can have more than one VPN session open simultaneously, meaning you could be logged in on both your phone and your laptop. When you close the web browser, you close your VPN session. If you do not close your browser, you will automatically be logged out after three hours.
