Find the MAC Address for a Device
Follow these steps to find the MAC address for your device. View How to Find Your Computer's IP and MAC Address for Windows and Mac computers.
If your device is not listed below, search how to find the device’s MAC address online or contact the vendor for additional instructions and support.
Android/iOS
Some home devices, such as Google Home and devices that cast content, require your smart phone to be connected to the same network as the device (WVU.Play).
Android
From the Home screen, tap the Menu button and tap Settings.
Tap About Phone.
Select Status.
The MAC address is listed next to Wi-Fi MAC address.
iOS
From the home screen, open Settings.
Tap General, then tap About.
Scroll down to find the MAC address listed next to Wi-Fi Address.
Some newer versions of iOS hide the address by default. If you can't view the address, open Settings and tap Wi-Fi. Tap the information icon next to the network and turn off the Private Address option.
Gaming systems
Xbox 360
Go to My Xbox in the Xbox Dashboard and select System Settings.
Click Network Settings, connect to the WVU.Play network, and then select Configure Network.
From the Additional Settings tab, select Advanced Settings.
Select Alternate MAC Address.
At the bottom of this screen, you'll see a heading called Wireless MAC Address.
Xbox One
If you are signed into your profile, navigate to My Games & Apps. (Skip this step if you are not signed into a profile.)
Select Settings and then Network.
Select Advanced Settings. The MAC Address is listed next to Wireless MAC.
PlayStation 3
Select Settings and then System Settings.
Scroll until you see System Information. The MAC Address will be listed there.
PlayStation 4
Select Settings, then Network, and then View Connection Status.
The MAC Address will be listed next to MAC Address (Wi-Fi).
Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch LITE
Select System Settings from the Home Menu.
Scroll down through the menu and select Internet.
The Nintendo Switch console MAC address will be listed under System MAC Address.
TVs and home devices
Apple TV
Go to the Main Menu on your Apple TV and select Settings.
In the Settings Menu, select General and then About.
Here you can find your MAC Address listed as the Wireless ID.
Vizio TV
Press Menu on your Vizio TV remote and select Settings.
Select Network and then select Manual Setup
At the bottom of this menu your MAC Address is listed as the Wireless ID.
Amazon Fire TV
Plug in your Amazon Fire TV stick into your TV
If this is the first time using this Fire TV device, the wireless MAC address will appear in the list of wireless networks during setup at the far-right of the list. If this Fire TV stick has been used in the past, navigate to Settings > System > About > Network and the wireless MAC address will be listed at this screen.
Google ChromeCast App
Open the Chromecast app on your computer (located in the Start menu for Windows or Applications folder for Mac).
Click Settings.
Find the MAC Address in the lower-left hand corner.
Google Home App
Open the Google Home app on your mobile device.
Tap the menu button (three horizontal lines).
Tap Devices.
Tap Add New Device.
Follow the prompts to connect to the network. You may be required to connect your phone to WVU.Play to complete setup.
On the Connect to WiFi screen, tap the ellipsis (three dots) and tap Show MAC Address. A pop-up window will show the MAC address.
Amazon Echo
Download the Amazon Alexa app to your phone or computer and sign in with your Amazon account.
Tap the menu button and tap Add Device.
Select the type of device you are connecting (Amazon Echo).
Choose the specific device you are connecting.
If the orange ring light on the device doesn't turn on automatically, press the Action button (dot) on the device.
The app will search for the device (this can take up to a minute). If setup fails, tap CANCEL or TRY AGAIN to try to connect. (This is common behavior on the Amazon Echo products.)
On the SETUP screen tap CONTINUE.
You will be asked to connect to the wireless network transmitted by your Echo device.
After connecting, tap CONTINUE to go to the Select your Wi-Fi network screen.
The wireless MAC address for your Echo can be found at the bottom of the Select your Wi-Fi network screen in the Alexa app.
