Access a WVU Computer from Off Campus
As a WVU employee, you may run into a situation where you will need to take your standard work computer home. From off campus, you will need to log in using your current Login credentials.
Accessing your WVU-issued computer from off campus
Before you take your work computer home, be sure to take these steps:
Know your Login information.
Log in to your computer while connected through an Ethernet cable at least once on the WVU network.
Since the computer will have no way of syncing with WVU's servers when it’s off network, the computer can only use a stored/cached version of your most recently used password. This means that if you change your Login password off campus or forget your password, you will need to bring the laptop back to campus, reset (or have us reset) your password, plug the computer into the network and log in using the new password.
When first logging into a WVU-owned computer for the first time, but are off campus or not connected to the WVU network. The error message: "We can't sign you in with this credential because your domain isn't available" will appear. Users may need to bring the computer back to campus and sign-in for the frist time while connected to the WVU netowrk.
