Microsoft Teams Microphone and Speaker Troubleshooting

If you're having speaker or microphone issues while using Teams, try adjusting your sound settings.

First, make sure the correct devices are connected.

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right corner.

  2. Select Settings then Devices.

  3. Make sure you have the correct device selected in the Microphone and Speakers dropdown menus.

If you are using a Mac and are still unable to use your external or internal microphone, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Go to your Mac’s System Preferences

  2. Click Security & Privacy

  3. Click on the lock at the bottom of the window and enter your computer’s username and password to make changes.

  4. Click Microphone

  5. Select Microsoft Teams or Microsoft Teams Helper.

  6. Click the lock again to implement the changes.

  7. Go back to your sound settings in Teams and make sure the correct audio device is selected for your microphone and speaker. You can do a test call to make sure everything is working correctly.
