Recommended Java Version
ITS recommends that you have Java 8 installed on your computer to run WVU applications.
How do I know what version of Java I have?
Windows:
Navigate to your computer's Control Panel and click Programs.
Click on Programs and Features.
Scan through the list for Java updates or enter "Java" in the search bar.
How to install Java 8
Note: If you are working remotely on a personal computer, install Java 8 from the Java installation website.
If you are using a Windows computer, open the Software Center (for computers in AD) or Company Portal (for computers in Azure AD). The Software Center or Company Portal icon may be pinned in your Start Menu. Alternatively, click the magnifying glass next to the Start menu and search "Software Center."
If you are using a Mac computer, open the Self Service application.Select the Oracle Java and click Install.
The installation may take a few minutes as all previous versions of Java will be removed from your machine.
Once you have Java 8 installed on your computer, disable future automatic updates for Java. This will prevent Java from updating to an unsupported version.
