Remove a Work or School Account from Windows 10 Computer
The following steps can be used to remove a work or school account from a Windows 10 computer. By completing these steps, you will not lose access to any of your WVU resources such as email or OneDrive, though you may be asked to sign back into your Microsoft 365 apps the next time you launch them.
How to remove your work or school account
Click Start then Settings.
Click Accounts on the Settings window.
Click the Access Work or School tab.
Select the account you wish to remove and click Disconnect.
Confirm you want to remove the account.
Note: You will not lose access to your WVU emails or resources by removing this account.
What to do if you receive a "This PC isn't joined to a domain" error message
You may receive an error message saying “This PC isn’t joined to a domain” when trying to remove your work or school account. This happens because your work or school account is coupled to the local account used to log into your computer. Follow the steps below to uncouple the account so it can be removed.
Click Start then Settings.
Click Accounts on the Settings window.
Make sure you are on the Your Info tab
Click Sign in with a local account instead.
Go through the steps on the screen. It may ask you to re-enter your PIN if one is set, then ask you to enter a new account password. The computer will then need to log you out and sign back in using the new account information/password.
Once the computer boots back into Windows 10, go back to the Windows 10 accounts settings (using steps 1 and 2) and click the Access Work or School tab. You should be able to remove the account now that it has been uncoupled from your local account.
