Disable Automatic Updates for Java

Some Java updates are not compatible with WVU applications and websites. Disable automatic updates to manually manage the version of Java you use. 

How to disable automatic updates

  1. Click on the Start Menu and choose Control Panel.

  2. You may have to click on the link on the left to switch to Classic View, which shows all icons.

  3. Click on the icon for Java.

  4. Choose the Update tab at the top of the window.

  5. Uncheck the option for Check for Updates Automatically.

  6. Click Apply and then OK.
