Oracle Java Access and Installation

To ensure that WVU remains compliant with vendor license requirements, access to download and install Oracle Java on WVU Owned computers is restricted to only approved users. Java will not be directly available on campus and all WVU computers will be scanned every time a user logs in. Java is only supported on Windows machines and unauthorized installations will be removed remotely.
HSC users should contact the HSC Help Desk for Oracle Java questions or assistance.
MAP forms users
The list of approved licensed users is updated every 2-4 hours, Monday through Friday. Once this list has been updated, MAP forms users can download Oracle's Java from the Company Portal and Software Center.
JDeveloper, BI Publisher, or Banner Workflow Builder users
These users may install Java from the Company Portal and Software Center. If you do not see Java as an available download, contact the ITS Service Desk.
Oracle Java for other applications
Amazon Corretto is a free alternative to Oracle Java. Please install Corretto from the Company Portal, Software Center, or Self Service for your application(s).
If Amazon Corretto will not meet your needs please submit a Software Assistance request.
