User-Approved Kernal Extension Loading
The latest macOS update for High Sierra (10.13.4) gives users greater control over applications that want access to system resources. This is new to Apple users, but it is a standard practice in other Operating Systems. This update requires users to give approval before loading new third-party kernel extensions. ITS has whitelisted some common applications, but users may still see the prompts for other installs. For more information, view Apple's technical notes about User-Approved Kernal Extension Loading.
What to do if you receive the "System Extension Blocked" message:
You may see a System Extension Blocked message during login or upon launching an application. ITS has worked to limit which applications trigger this response in its managed computers, but users may still see this message from time to time. This can affect anything from virus protection applications to print drivers. This message will no longer show if you approve the application in question through your Security & Privacy settings.
If you see this message, open System Preferences and click Security & Privacy. Near the bottom of the General tab, there will be a message similar to "System software from 'Some Developer, Inc.' was blocked from loading." Click the Allow button to launch the application
