Enhanced Search Toolbar Issues with WVU Applications

Web enhancing search toolbars such as Google, MSN, or Yahoo are known to cause issues with the following WVU applications:

  • Compliance Assistance

  • MAP

  • eCampus

How do I know what toolbars I have installed?

There are several ways to check if additional toolbars are installed:

  • Open an internet browser and check for non-standard toolbars visible at the top of the screen.

  • Click on View. Then click Toolbars. A list of the available tool bars should display.

  • Click on the tool bar, if one is visible. A menu box will open showing a list of the available toolbars. See what toolbars are checked.

Problem

A WVU application (eCampus, MAP, other other) is not working properly.

Solution

It is recommended to remove any additional search tool bars. To remove the toolbar from a PC:

  1. Open the Control Panel.

  2. Select Uninstall a program.

  3. Select the search bar to be removed.

  4. Click Uninstall.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all applicable search tool bars.

Note: If you want to hide a toolbar, click to deselect it. Hiding a search bar will not always correct the problem.
