Internal Grant Personnel Page in WVU+kc
The Personnel page of the Internal Grant document allows the addition of key members to the internal grant document in WVU+kc, and gives them access to view and edit some related documents in the WVU+kc application. This page contains areas to add information about the Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator, and a Department Chair Contact.
Principal Investigator
The Principal Investigator section contains two required fields that must be completed before the Internal Grant request can be submitted.
Name: The name of the PI who is requesting this internal grant. The Internal Grant request should be completed by the PI, and the KC system will automatically fill in the name of the user who is currently logged-in.
Email: The email address of the PI who is requesting this internal grant. The WVU+kc system will automatically fill in the email address of the logged-in user.
Person Rank: This field is required. Select the academic rank of the principal investigator from the drop-down list.
Department: This field is required. Click the search icon to search for and return the department that will be responsible for the project.
Click the search icon to open the unit lookup screen.
In the Unit Search field, enter a department name. You can use the asterisk (*) to execute a wildcard search - use the asterisk to replace part of a name.
Click Search or press Enter on your keyboard to see results.
Click the Return link next to the correct unit to fill in the field.
CV: Depending on the type of internal grant you are requesting, this field may be required. You will need to upload a copy of your curriculum vita.
Click the Upload button.
Click the Upload a File button.
Or drag a file from your computer and drop it into the box with the dashed line that says, Drop files here.
Locate and select the file on your computer, then click the Open button.
The file name will appear below the Drop files here area.
Click Finished to attach the file.
Co-Investigator
The Co-Investigator section contains required fields that must be completed if a co-investigator is selected. Adding a co-investigator is optional, or not available depending on the type of internal grant request selected. First, select the person from the lookup screen, then enter details about them and their department.
Lookup Person: This field will allow you to select a WVU+kc user from a list to pick the co-investigator.
Click the search icon to open the person lookup screen.
In the Person Search field, enter a first name, last name, or username. You can use the asterisk (*) to execute a wildcard search - use the asterisk to replace part of a name.
Click Search or press Enter on your keyboard to see results.
Click the Return link next to the correct individual to fill in the fields relating to the co-investigator.
Name: The name of the Co-I will be completed by the system when you return a value for the co-investigator's name.
Email: The email address of the Co-I who will be participating in the grant-sponsored activity. The WVU+kc system will automatically fill in the email address of the selected user.
Person Rank: This field is Required. Select the academic Rank of the co-investigator from the drop-down list.
Department: This field is Required. Click the search icon to search for and return the value of the Co-I's department.
Click the search icon to open the unit lookup screen.

Click the Return link next to the correct unit to fill in the field.
Add Department Chair Contact
The Add Department Chair Contact section allows you to add the person who serves as a point of contact or approver for research in your department, such as the department chair or college administrator.
Lookup Person: In order to receive notification of your proposal submission, you will need to select your department chair from the lookup field. Before a contact has been selected, the section will display as "Add Department Chair Contact" and the only available field will be the Lookup Person field. To add a contact, click the search icon to search for a person. To add your department chair:
Click the search icon in the Lookup Person field.
Type a name in the Person Search field and click Search. You can search by first or last name, or by WVU+kc username.
Locate the person in the search results, and click the Return link to bring the name into the field.
Name: The name of the Chair will be completed by the system when you return a value for the Lookup Person field.
Email: The email address of the Chair will be completed by the system when you return a value for the Lookup Person field.
Delete: If the Chair has been added in error or needs to be changed, click the Delete button to remove the current Chair. You may add another Chair as needed.
