Add a Multi-factor Token
To add a token to your account on your own, you must already have a smartphone or tablet associated with your Duo account. Otherwise, you must contact the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444 to complete setup.
Duo two-factor authentication will be retired October 1, 2025, and replaced with a new multi-factor authentication tool, Okta Verify. View the Supported Multi-factor Tokens page for a list of supported tokens that will work with Duo or Okta Verify.
Add a token to your account
Go to login.wvu.edu and click Manage Account.
Sign in and authenticate using the device that’s already associated with your Duo account.
Click Duo Two-Factor
Click Add Token.
Review the Duo Token Terms and Conditions, click Agree and click Submit.
Enter your token’s serial number, which can be found on the back of the device.
Press the button on your token to generate a series of authentication codes. Wait until a code disappears on the token before generating the next code. This could take up to 15 seconds. Enter each six-digit code into its respective field.
Click Add. A message will appear at the top of the page letting you know the token has been added to your account successfully.
Your token can fall out of sync if you press the button too many times without using the generated codes. If that happens, you can resync your token.
