Configuring TOTP (2FA) on Rubrik CDM

Rubrik TOTP (Time-based One Time Password) is an additional layer of security. At this time, you will be required to configure TOTP access to continue to use Rubrik at WVU. The following steps explain how to use the Duo TOTP tool to configure 2FA (two-factor authentication). This is the ITS Cloud and Virtualization supported configuration.

  1. When you log into a Rubrik cluster, you will be prompted to configure 2FA for your account. A window will open with a QR code; leave this window open.

  2. On your mobile device that already has Duo installed, open the app and tap Add+ in the upper-right corner.

  3. Select Use QR code at the top of the Add account list. This will launch your camera or prompt you to grant permission to access your camera. If prompted, accept the request.

  4. Scan the code that you still have open in the Rubrik window of your browser.

  5. You will be prompted to name this account. Name it something relevant to the Rubrik cluster you are setting up. Each cluster will have its own TOTP token, so names like “OWP-Rubrik” or “Beckley-Rubrik" will help keep them organized.

  6. After you save the account name, you will see a 6-digit passcode. Enter the passcode in the Verification Code field at the bottom of the Rubrik window with the QR code.

  7. You will now be logged into this Rubrik cluster.

You must open the Duo app on your mobile device to retrieve the current TOTP code before completing your Rubrik login. At this time, you will not receive a Duo prompt when logging in like with other WVU services, but this feature is coming soon for Rubrik.
