Print Documents Using Secure Print

You can use the secure print option to print documents with sensitive information. If you select this option, your document will not print until you enter a code at the printer.

Set up the document for secure print

Windows 10 instructions

  1. Go to the Print option.

  2. Select the appropriate printer.

  3. Click Printer Preferences.

  4. Click the Basic tab.

  5. Under Output Method, click the drop-down arrow.

  6. Select Secure Print.

  7. Click User Settings.

  8. Enter a Secure Print ID and a Password. You will need to enter the ID and password at the printer to print the document. The ID and password are case sensitive.

    Note: Once you enter an ID and password for one document, it will automatically apply to future documents. If you have previously entered an ID and password and do not wish to change either, you can skip this step and step 9. 

  9. Click OK to exit the User Settings window.

  10. Make any other adjustments to the document.

  11. Click OK again to exit the Properties window.

  12. Click Print.

MacOS instructions

  1. Click File > Print, or press CMND + P.

  2. Choose the appropriate printer.

  3. Under Presets, select Save Current Settings as Preset...

  4. Enter a name and choose whether to apply this preset to only this printer or all printers. 

  5. Click OK

  6. Click the Copies & Pages drop down and select Output Method.

  7. Under Output Method, click the drop-down arrow.

  8. Select Secure Print.

  9. Create a Secure Print ID and a Password. You will need to enter the ID and password at the printer to print the document. The ID and password are case sensitive.
    Note: Once you enter an ID and password for one document, it will automatically apply to future documents. If you have previously entered an ID and password and do not wish to change either, you can skip this step.

  10. Click OK.

  11. Make any other adjustments to the document.

  12. Click Print.

Release the document for printing

  1. Go to the printer.

  2. Type in your departmental access code and click Login.

  3. Click Menu on the right side of the control panel.

  4. Click User Box.

  5. Click the System tab.

  6. Click Secure Print.

  7. Enter the print ID and password you created in step 8. Please note the ID and password are case sensitive.

  8. Select the document you wish to print.

  9. Click Print (on the right side of the screen).

  10. Change the number of copies if you wish.

  11. Press the Start button on the control panel to print the document. 

  12. After printing, press the Access button twice to log out.
