Wireless Access for Guests (Public)

Guest networks offer short-term access for non-WVU individuals with a legitimate need for wireless connectivity while on campus, such as visiting parents, guest lecturers and vendors.

Access the Guest wireless network at Morgantown

Guest access within residence hall rooms is provided through Boldyn (formerly Apogee). Guests and visitors can visit their Support Portal on their device, click Guests and Visitors, and follow the instructions to connect.

View support information on the Support Portal home page. If you still need assistance, Boldyn provides 24/7 customer support at (866) 502-4590 or by live chat.

If you are not being sponsored (for example, a visiting relative or friend of a student), you can self-register to gain access to the WVU.Guest network for up to 5 days. If you need additional support, contact the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444.

Register for a guest account

  1. From your device's list of available networks, select WVU.Guest. Please note the WVU.Guest network is not available in residence halls or sporting arenas.

  2. Click the Click here to register link.

  3. Complete the fields. Required fields are noted by an asterisk (*).

    • First and Last name*: Your first and last name will only be visible to the Service Desk.

    • Email address*: This will become your username. Also, your default password will be sent to this email address. You cannot use a WVU email address (@mail or @mix).

    • Mobile phone number: Enter your phone number if you would like to receive your default password via text.

    • Company: Optional field to complete if you are registering as part of a company.

    • SMS provider*: Select your device's provider. If your provider is not listed, select "Global Default."

  4. Click Register.

  5. If you successfully self-registered, you will be notified that your account has been created. We recommend jotting down this account information or taking a screenshot with your device before proceeding. From this screen, click Sign On to access the Guest wireless network using the password that was emailed to you. The Text Me option is currently unavailable. If you are unable to access your email to view your default password, contact the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444. Be prepared to provide your account information.

  6. Connect your device to the WVU.Guest wireless network by following the steps below.

  2. Enter your username (your email address) and password.

  3. Click Sign On.

This service is not intended for WVU faculty, staff, and students. These populations should connect to the WVU.Encrypted network.

Wireless access for sponsored guests

If you are being sponsored by a department (for example, a guest lecturer or vendor), your sponsor may grant you access to either the WVU.Guest or the WVU.Encrypted network.

  1. Talk to your sponsor to receive your login information.

  2. From your device's list of available networks, select WVU.Encrypted or WVU.Guest, depending on the access provided by your sponsor.
