When I click log out, I'm taken back to the home page and I'm still logged in. How do I log out?
Banner uses single sign on technology (CAS) as part of its authentication. It is designed to keep you logged in as long as your internet browser session is active and automatically log you in again if you open a new window. To log out, close your internet browser.
Can Banner 9 be accessed off campus?
Yes, Banner 9 can be accessed off campus through a VPN. Banner 9 is also available on the WVU Encrypted network. For security purposes, you must be on campus within range of the WVU Encrypted network if you are trying to access Banner 9 on a mobile device.
Why can't I access Banner 9 from the WVU Portal? I keep getting an error that says 'staradmin.wvu.edu is currently unavailable.'
This error is related to your browser cache. Try accessing Banner 9 from a different browser, or clear your browser cache.
What types of mobile devices are supported with Banner 9?
Tablets and laptops provide the best user interface experience when using Banner 9 on a mobile device. While phones on the WVU Encrypted network can access Banner 9, the size of the device does not work well with the layout of the forms. Please note bluetooth keyboards are not compatible with Banner 9. Tablets must use the integrated on-screen keyboards.
How can I build a custom menu of frequently used forms?
My Banner is available for users to build a custom menu of their most used forms. This can be done on the GUAPMNU form. Note that My Banner will not appear on the Applications menu until it has been set up on the GUAPMNU.
What browsers are supported for Banner 9?
For Admin forms 9.3, supported browsers are IE 11, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari 6 or 7. To print from Banner 9, use Firefox. While Chrome and IE are supported browsers, they may cause issues with blank or incomplete pages when printing.
Where is the GoTo option?
Pressing F5 used to activate a 'go to' search box; the F5 key is now used to refresh in Banner 9. To go to a new form, choose the search icon on the upper left side of the browser.
How do you find the user ID and activity date for the last update of a record?
In Banner 8, some pages show the user ID and activity date for the last record update. When viewing the same pages in Banner 9, the user ID and activity date appear in the footer of the page (the gray band at the bottom of the screen).
Can users change the color scheme in Banner?
Individual users cannot choose a personal color in the Banner 9 applications at this time. Personal color (theme) choices have been requested of Ellucian, the software vendor, but not yet scheduled for a particular release.
Where can I find the list of items that was under "Options" on the Banner 8 menu bar?
Click the Related button in Banner 9.
Will data be migrated from Banner 8 to Banner 9?
No. There are no changes to the Banner database. Both Banner 8 and Banner 9 access the same database, and the forms will have the same data points on them. However, the form fields may be laid out differently in Banner 9.
Why does the system open a form while I'm typing?
After typing 3 characters, the system sometimes autocompletes and opens the first form with those matching characters. This is a known bug being reviewed by the vendor. As a workaround, you can use the menus to find a function or enter the full name of the form without pausing between characters.
Why am I prompted to log in a second time when using BDM with Banner 8?
Due to changing security requirements, you will be prompted to log in a second time when using Banner 8 to access BDM. This prompt will not occur in Banner 9.
Why am I prompted to log off when using BDM with Banner 8?
Banner 8 uses the same tab for each connection to BDM. New connections will prompt you to log off previous sessions.
Note: BDM will not prompt you to log off between each session in Banner 9
Banner 9 is slow.
