What is the best way to access the Banner 9 tools?
Banner 9 tools require CAS authentication, so ITS recommends faculty access these tools through the WVU Portal for a seamless experience.
Log into the WVU Portal.
Select the STAR button from the Course Management options.
Select the Faculty & Advisors tab. All available tools will be linked on this page.
How can I see all of my classes for a specific term?
By default, all courses for all terms will appear in the Class List. You can narrow the list down by selecting a term from the drop-down or using the search box. You can search by year (e.g., 2022), term (e.g., Spring) or WVU term (e.g., 202201).
How can I see my class roster of students?
View the Find Class Lists in STAR/Banner (Faculty) article for instructions.
How can I see the Detail Class List?
The Summary and Detail class list pages were combined into a single Class List. You can switch between Summary and Detail views using the drop-down view option.
How can I email my class?
View the Email Classes in STAR article for instructions.
How can I print my class roster?
You can print either the Summary or Detail view of the Class List using the Print button at the top of the Class List page.
How can I export my class roster?
You can export the Summary Class List using the Export button at the top of the Class List page.
How can I view the class roster for other classes?
You can only access and view rosters for classes that you are an instructor for. You cannot search for any course at WVU and view the roster.
How can I view all of my students' registered courses?
You can review a student's registrations for a term on their Student Profile or the Registration History page.
Student Profile
From the Class List page, you can click on or hover over a student's name to access their Student Profile. You can also use the Search for a Student option to access their Student Profile.
Term and one search criteria are required. Select the row in the results table to open their Student Profile. On the Student Profile, you can see their list of courses for the current term.
Registration History
Search for the student and select their row in the results table. This will show you their entire registration history and grades.
You can click on the CRN number or Course Title for any course to open the Details popup to see additional information on the courses.
Select any student’s name to access their Student Profile page.
How can I view my student's grades?
Use Search for a Student / View Student Profile. Conduct a search and click the student’s name from the student selection. This will open their Student Profile.
On the Student Profile, click the View Grades link in the Additional links section. This page allows you to view their GPA Summary and grades by term.
Why is the Grade Change Reason menu empty when I try to submit a grade modification?
This is a common caching issue. If you encounter a null table or drop-down menu on the Grade Modification page, try clearing your browser cache and using an incognito browser window:
Refresh the page and try again.
Clear your browser history and cache, close the browser, open an incognito window and try again.
Try a different browser with a clean, incognito window.
Repeat step 2 as needed throughout the day. After clearing your cache, it may take a full business day before you are able to use the Grade Modification page.
It may take multiple cache clearings across a few days before it takes effect. Submit a ticket to ITS if the page still does not open after repeated cache clearing.
How can I view my student’s academic transcript?
Use Search for a Student / View Student Profile. Conduct a search and click on the desired student from the student selection to open their Student Profile. On the Student Profile, click the Academic Transcript link in the Additional links section.
How can I easily navigate between Banner 9 Tools?
From any of the Banner 9 tools, you can click on the West Virginia University Logo at the top to return to the Faculty Self-Service 9 homepage. These links will open the page in a new tab.
This does not work for the Class List page. Clicking on the WVU logo from the Class List page will take users to the Student homepage instead of Faculty. The Class List is the only page that was not delivered as part of the Faculty Module.
