STAR INB Error Messages and Alerts

Java can produce a security warning when logging into STAR INB. If the steps below do not resolve your error, try clearing your Java cache and internet browser cache. If the error persists, submit a ticket.

Java security alert when logging into STAR INB

When you log into STAR INB, you may receive a Java security alert that says "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern." This warning is only making sure you are aware not all content is signed. There is no security risk inherent in the system.

Select No, you do not want to block unsafe components. If you select Yes, STAR INB will not display correctly. To learn more, view Java's help documentation about this error message.

Banner Help Center error message in STAR INB

When you try to access the Help Center in STAR INB (Banner), the webpage doesn't display or you receive an error message that says:

Banner Document Management is installed at your site, but you are not set up as a user in that system. Please contact your Administrator for information.

Because the online Help Center is not turned on in STAR INB, you will not be able to access this site. For help with the Banner Document Management system, refer to the Office of the University Registrar's Banner Training page.

If you receive an error message saying "Application blocked by security settings" or something similar, check your browser and Java version. Make sure you have Java 7 update 45 installed. If necessary, try using a different browser. Please note that Chrome does not work well with STAR INB.
