How to Access STAR (SSB)
Current students and faculty can access STAR from the WVU Portal. Go to portal.wvu.edu and click the STAR button. If you are a former student, you must log into STAR directly at star.wvu.edu with your Login credentials. If you are a former student and haven't set up an Alumni account, visit login.wvu.edu and click Change Alumni Account Password.
The instructions below are for supported browsers. Using an unsupported browser may result in errors.
Access STAR using Firefox
Security settings in Firefox (versions 23 and above) sometimes cause Firefox to block websites, including STAR. If the links in STAR do not open when you click on them, check for a small shield symbol in the search bar.
Go to portal.wvu.edu.
If prompted, sign into the WVU Portal using your Login credentials.
Click on the STAR button.
If you see the shield in the address bar, then Firefox is blocking the website. For a workaround, view Mozilla's support page for How does content that isn't secure affect my safety? STAR is a secure website.
Access STAR using Google Chrome
Security settings in Google Chrome sometimes cause Chrome to block websites, including STAR. If the links in STAR do not open when you click on them or if the page opens with no content, check for a small shield symbol in the search bar.
Go to portal.wvu.edu.
If prompted, sign into the WVU Portal using your Login credentials.
Click on the STAR button.
If you see the shield symbol in the address bar, then Google Chrome is blocking the website because it registers the load scripts as unsafe. Click on the shield and then click Load unsafe scripts. The scripts are secure. This should refresh the page and you should now be able to click the links.
Access STAR using a Mac computer
If you're using a Mac and you do not have one of the supported browsers for the WVU Portal, try accessing STAR directly (star.wvu.edu).
