On the Course Activity Related to Grades page, instructors can select the Chart view or Table view icon to select their view. The chart view cannot be used with a screen reader.
Chart view
From the activity stream or Grades page, the instructor can arrive at a scatter plot comparing student activity to grade. The instructor will have a broad view of their students' performance in relation to each other and their activity levels.
Y axis: The students' current grades in the course are represented on the y axis.
X axis: Activity count is based on an evolving algorithm that accounts for clicks and time spent on pages.
Regression line: Our research shows a significant correlation between students' grades and their level of activity. The regression line represents that correlation and gives the instructor a predicted grade according to activity level.
Zoom in: To zero in on a specific portion of the scatter plot, press and drag to select the region. A translucent rectangle appears over the selection and the screen automatically zooms in. Select Reset Zoom to reset.
Table view
Select the Table view icon to view the data in rows and columns.
Difference from Expected: Gives an idea of how accurately students' grades reflect their levels of effort. For example, a value of zero indicates that students' grades closely reflect their engagement. A negative value might suggest students are more active in the course than their grades reflect. A positive value might mean students work less often than their grades suggest.
Activity Level: The students' activity levels are based on an evolving algorithm that accounts for clicks and time spent on pages.
