Lost or Missing Network Drive
If you can’t view or access a network drive, try these solutions.
You must connect to the VPN to access or map a network drive if you are working remotely.
Need to map a network drive?
Follow these steps if your network drive doesn’t map automatically.
Connect to the VPN then visit jdrive.wvu.edu. This page is only available when you are connected to the VPN.
Log in with your WVU Login credentials.
Authenticate with Duo two-factor.
Select your operating system in the Setup Instructions pane.
Follow the instructions on the page to map your N or J drives.
If you have successfully mapped one drive but are having issues connecting a second drive, make sure the Use other credentials option is unchecked.
Are you a new employee or in a new position?
If you are a new hire or have just changed positions, you may need to wait 24 hours from your starting day before all of your access levels have been established. Confirm with your department that your access has been requested.
If you’ve changed positions to a new department, you may need to contact your old department for access. The dean or director from your old department will have to submit a request to have your access restored.
Other troubleshooting
If you are a WVU user on the Morgantown Campus network and have lost access to specific network drives, restart your computer and try accessing the drive again.
Try to access other network drives on your computer. If you cannot access any network drives, you may not be connected to the network.
If you use a desktop icon, try to access the drive by using File Explorer or by selecting Computer and opening This PC and/or the primary C: drive.
Ask someone else in your area to try to access the drive. If others cannot access the drive, you may not be connected to the network.
Contact the ITS Service Desk if you are still unable to access your network drive.
