ITS Data Center Access
Sponsors and supervisors can use the Data Center Access Request service to add, modify or revoke Data Center access for their employees.
University Data Centers are secure WVU facilities and only those with approved business justification will be granted and/or retain unescorted access within the facility. Keep in mind most individuals do NOT require unescorted access into this secure facility. Typically only those supporting the data center facility or IT gear as well as fire/safety personnel require standing, unescorted access.
You can review the Data Center Access Policy for more information. You can review the Data Center Access Policy for more information.
Add Data Center access
The supervisor or sponsor submits the request indicating the individual who needs unescorted access, the Data Center locations they want the person to access, and the date range of their access.
Individuals approved by both the supervisor/sponsor and the Data Center Coordinator will receive instructions on how to take the Data Center training. Completion of annual training and successfully passing (80% or better) a security quiz is a requirement for being granted and retaining unescorted access.
Once the test has been completed and passed, the supervisor/sponsor will receive an email letting them know that access has been granted.
Modify Data Center access
The supervisor or sponsor can modify what locations someone can access or the date range of their access. When submitting this type of request, remember to select all locations the employee or vendor will need to access, not just the locations you wish to add or remove.
Revoke Data Center access
The supervisor or sponsor can provide the employee's access end date. Upon that date, all Data Center access will be terminated.
