iClicker for Instructors

iClicker is an audience response tool that makes it easy to track attendance, increase participation, facilitate quizzes, measure performance and get more out of your classroom. Student responses are instantly recorded and grades can be synced with eCampus.

WVU has an iClicker Cloud Enterprise license, which means students are able to participate in iClicker courses without needing to purchase a subscription to the iClicker Student App for their mobile devices. As long as instructors create their iClicker courses with West Virginia University as the institution, there is no charge to students to activate their connection to iClicker.

How do I create an iClicker Cloud account?

When you log into iClicker.com, choose Instructor then click Sign in through campus portal on the next screen and follow the instructions. You will be prompted to provide information so your accounts are synchronized. If you don’t remember the last iClicker password you used, follow the steps in iClicker’s retrieve forgotten password or username guide.

Where can I find iClicker Cloud training?

iClicker offers online training for both software versions. The training is intended to introduce iClicker to brand new users and includes a live demo. It is a great way to familiarize yourself with the software before setting it up for the first time. You can register for one-on-one training or invite your colleagues.

Can I use a physical iClicker instructor remote with iClicker Cloud?

Yes, you can enter your instructor remote ID in your iClicker Cloud profile and it will work in your course as long as you plug in the iClicker base. We also have an instructor mobile app that you can use to control in-class polls.

Which devices can students use to participate in iClicker Cloud activities?

iClicker Cloud works with physical iClicker remotes, laptops, and mobile devices. Students can participate in iClicker Cloud activities with the iClicker student app on a mobile device or laptop, or with an iClicker remote. Students can only participate with remotes if you have an iClicker base plugged into the computer you are using to run class sessions. You should make it clear to students which devices you have decided to permit in your class.

Those using the iClicker student app can participate in all question types. However, please note that not all question types and features are supported when responding with iClicker remotes. Students with iClicker 2 remotes can participate in multiple choice, multiple answer, short answer, and numeric polls, in addition to quizzes. Students with iClicker+ or original iClicker remotes can only participate in multiple choice polls. Students with remotes cannot respond to the target question type or to Assignments.

Can students vote with an iClicker remote and the iClicker student app interchangeably?

Students who have both an iClicker remote and the iClicker student app can use their devices interchangeably throughout the term. However, a student can only receive credit from one device at a time. If a student tries to respond to the same polling question using more than one device the software will only record the most recently submitted response.

Can I sync iClicker scores with SOLE?

iClicker scores can’t be synced with SOLE. However, you can download scores and manually enter them into SOLE or use eCampus instead.
