Polling Questions in SOLE

To add questions to your poll after creation, click the Add Questions button. Poll questions can be Multiple Choice or True/False. When creating questions, you will set the Question Text, Answer Options, and Points and Scoring settings.

Question Text

  • Use the HTML editor toolbar above the question dialog box to format the question text.

  • When copying from Word, use the 'Paste from Word' button on the toolbar to ensure any formatting is removed and the question displays correctly.

Answer Options

  • For Multiple Choice questions, four answer options are available by default. Click Add Another Answer to include additional options.

  • For True/False questions, two default options (True and False) are provided, but you can customize these text labels as needed.

  • By default, answers are marked Incorrect. Click the red Incorrect icon next to an answer to set it as Correct, turning the icon green. Only one answer can be marked correct per question.

  • Answers display in the listed order by default. Use the Show Answer Formatting icon to randomize the display order of the answer options.

Points and Scoring

  • Points are required for any graded poll, even if questions do not have correct/incorrect options.

  • By default, each question is assigned 1 point, but this can be adjusted when creating or editing a question.

  • When the poll is linked to the Gradebook, total points for all questions are calculated, allowing grading based on correct/incorrect responses or participation. For more information on grading, view the Grade Live Polling page.
