How to Create a CITI Account

Health Sciences Center (HSC) and WVU Medicine (WVUM) users without a WVU shared account should follow these steps to create a Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) account.

If you have a shared account or are only affiliated with WVU, you do not need to create a CITI account. View the CITI Training page for instructions to log into CITI with your WVU Login credentials.

If you’re unsure if you have a shared account, view the Shared User Login FAQ for account criteria.

Create a CITI account

  1. Go to citiprogram.org.

  2. Click Register.

  3. Complete the required fields on each screen for Steps 1 through 7.

    • Step 1: In the Select Your Organiziation Affiliation field, select West Virginia University.

Enter West Virginia University for the Select Your Organization Affiliation field

Check the boxes to agree to the Terms of Service and affirm affiliation with WVU, then click Create a CITI Program account.

Select the Create a CITI Program account button at the end of the terms of service.
    • Step 2: Enter your personal information.

    • Step 3: Create your username and password. You must use the SAME username and email that you use to log in to WVU+kc.

    • Step 4: Choose your country of residence.

    • Step 5: Choose No when asked whether you want to receive Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits to avoid changes.

    • Step 6: Provide the required WVU information. You must use your WVU-affiliated email address as your Institutional Email Address.

    • Step 7: Choose your training courses then click Complete Registration at the bottom of the page.
