How to Find Your Computer's IP and MAC Address (Public)

Follow the steps below to determine the IP address or the MAC address of your computer.

Find the IP and MAC address on a Mac Computer

  1. From the menu bar, click on the Wi-Fi icon and select Open Network Preferences.

  2. From the left side of the window, click on the appropriate adapter and look at the Status on the right. The IP Address will be listed here.

  3. Click Advanced, and then click on the Hardware tab. Here you will be able to view the MAC Address.

Find the IP and MAC address on a Windows 10 Computer

  1. Click the Start icon and select Settings.

  2. Click the Network & Internet icon.

  3. To view the IP address of a wired connection, select Ethernet on the left menu pane and select your network connection, your IP address will appear next to "IPv4 Address".

  4. To view the IP address of a wireless connection, select WiFi on the left menu pane and click Advanced Options, your IP address will appear next to "IPv4 Address".

If you see more than one IP or MAC address, you may have more than one network adapter installed on the computer. When this is the case, the command prompt will separate these, letting you know whether it's the Ethernet adapter or the wireless adapter.
