Mountie Bounty
Mountie Bounty is a convenient debit plan that allows you to place dollar amounts on your Mountaineer Card for later use. Mountie Bounty balances are carried forward each year and are used differently than Dining Dollars. Cash withdrawals and cash refunds are not permitted.
Please review the Mountaineer Card Terms and Conditions for information about Mountie Bounty refunds and cardholder responsibilities.
What if my Mountie Bounty deposit fails?
If your Mountie Bounty deposit fails, it usually generates an error that is easy to understand. The most common errors indicate insufficient funds or an inactive/canceled card. Sometimes a deposit fails because the billing information does not match the information for the credit card. Be sure to use the correct address associated with the card.
In some situations where a transaction fails, it may look like your bank account or credit card has been charged when it's actually a pending debit. In most cases, you will not need to do anything, as pending holds usually drop off automatically after 1 - 3 days depending on the issuing card's bank policy (occasionally, this can take as long as 7 - 10 business days). If more than 10 business days have passed since the failed deposit was initiated, submit a ticket for Mountaineer Card Services to review.
Note: West Virginia University does not have the ability to release an authorization hold. This can only be performed by the issuing card’s bank. Please pay careful attention to the billing information you've entered and ensure that it matches your credit card.
Missing Card
The cardholder is responsible for safeguarding his/her card. Should the card become lost or misplaced accidentally, by theft, or for any other reason, log on to MyMountaineerCard to deactivate your card. The cardholder assumes responsibility for purchases made against his/her account prior to notifying Mountaineer Card Services or deactivating their card. Only the balance at the time the card is reported missing and invalidated can be protected.
Once Mountaineer Card Services has been notified about a lost or stolen card, the account will be deactivated until the rightful owner has the card reactivated. Mountaineer Card Services can reactivate a card once it is reported as lost or stolen, or the cardholder can reactivate it via MyMountaineerCard.
