SOLE Exam Troubleshooting for Instructors
Extending Exam Time
Extend Time for All Students:
To add more time for all students, simply increase the Time Limit setting. This will adjust the time for students’ exams by the next full minute, accounting for any time already spent in the exam.Extend Time for Individual Students (Accommodated Time):
Use Override Settings to set a new full time limit for individual students if an exam needs to be re-opened for them. Ensure that any Due Date or Expiration Date extends to cover the accommodation.
Resolving "In Progress" Exam Submissions
If a student's exam is stuck as "In Progress" despite appearing submitted and no technical issues were reported, you can manually complete the submission:
Go to the In Progress tab within Exam Reports.
Click Trigger Finish next to the student’s submission to finalize it.
Reopening a Submitted Exam
If an exam was inadvertently submitted, you can re-open it:
Set the exact time limit you want for the re-opened exam. Reopening resets the exam timer once the student re-enters.
Use Override Settings to adjust the time limit specifically for this student.
Review other Availability Settings to avoid conflicts with time restrictions.
Exam Availability Restrictions
Use Access Controls to limit exam access to specific individuals, small groups, or roles.
Advanced Reporting Levels
To control what students see after submitting their exam, go to the Advanced tab and review Reporting Levels. By default, reporting is disabled.
Password Complexity
Keep passwords simple and visible in the classroom at exam entry time for easy access.
Disabling Zoom Virtual Background and Clips
For exams proctored via Zoom and requiring the SOLE LockDown Browser:
Disable Virtual Background: The Zoom Virtual Background should be turned off before launching a SOLE LockDown Browser exam.
Disable Zoom Clips:
The LockDown Browser detects conflicting programs and may prompt students to close them. Zoom Clips, a feature within Zoom, can interfere with the LockDown Browser. If enabled, students will see this message:
"Some Blocklisted Applications are running. LockDown Browser will not run as long as the following applications are running: ZoomClips."To prevent this, students must exit the LockDown Browser, disable Zoom Clips, and re-launch the exam.
Steps to Disable Clips for an Entire Zoom Account:
Sign in to the Zoom Web portal.
In the left menu, go to Settings.
Click the Clips tab at the top right of the page. You may need to click the arrow to show more options.
Toggle off the Clips setting.
For more information, refer to the Zoom Clips user guide.
