Email Forwarding in MIX Gmail
Faculty may forward emails from their MIX Gmail account to their University Microsoft 365 account. University policy prohibits the automatic forwarding of University email to non-University email accounts.
Students may forward emails from their MIX Gmail account to another personal email account, but this is not recommended.
Note: These instructions will forward all mail to your Microsoft 365 email account.
How to forward your MIX Gmail emails to a preferred email account:
Log in to WVU Portal (portal.wvu.edu) and open your MIX Gmail inbox.
Click on the gear icon near the upper right corner of your mail window.
From the drop-down menu, select Settings.
Click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Click on the button labeled Add a forwarding address.
Type your forwarding address in the space provided and click Next.
Double-check your typing of the address. Click Proceed if the address is correct or Cancel if you need to make a correction. In the latter case, start again at step 4.
You'll be told that a confirmation code will be sent (to the forwarding address) to get permission to use it. Click OK.
Check your mail at the forwarding address and follow the directions in the confirmation message.
Repeat steps 1-3 to revisit the Forwarding settings, where you should find an altered display that allows you to select "Forward a copy of incoming mail" to the address you specified and to choose whether you want to keep, archive, delete or merely mark as read Gmail's copy of each message.
Make your choices and then click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the window.
