Import SOLE Exam Questions to eCampus Ultra

You can export your SOLE exam questions and import them into your eCampus/Blackboard Ultra course for the following question types:

Supported Question Types: Multiple Choice, Essay, True/False, Matching, Fill in the Blank, and Multiple Select.

Unsupported Question Types: Ordering and Hotspot.

Non-Importable Information: Categories, tags, instructor notes, and correct/incorrect feedback cannot be imported but can be manually added after the import.

Point Values: All questions will default to 1 point in Blackboard. Point values from SOLE will not transfer and must be manually updated after the import.

Attachments: Any attachments (e.g., images or videos) will not transfer and must be added manually after the import.

 

 

Steps to Export Questions from SOLE

  1. In your SOLE course, navigate to Assessment > Exams.

  2. Click the Import/Export Questions button.

  3. Under the Export questions in Blackboard plain text format section, choose either:

    1. Export All: To export all questions.

    2. Export Selected Only: To export only selected questions.

  1. A .txt file will download to your machine.

 

Steps to Import Questions into eCampus/Blackboard Ultra

  1. In your eCampus/Blackboard Ultra course, navigate to the test you want to import the questions into.

  2. Open the Content and Settings tab, and in the Test Content section:

    1. Hover over the dashed border and click the purple plus icon.

  3. Select Upload questions from file.

  4. Choose the .txt file you exported from SOLE and click Open.

  5. If there are no errors, Blackboard will provide a summary of the number of questions imported successfully. If there are errors, it will display information about the unsupported or incorrectly formatted questions instead.

  6. Review the imported questions to ensure accuracy and make any necessary edits.
