Set IP Restrictions for a Test in eCampus
IP Restrictions are used to limit the locations from which an exam may be taken through eCampus. They may be set during or after creating an exam.
Create an IP Restriction
Login to eCampus.
Select the desired course.
Select the content area containing the exam.
Click the drop down arrow, next to the exam name.
Click Edit the Test Options. This will open the Test Options page.
Scroll down to Test Availability section, and the Restrict Location option.
Click the drop down box.
Click either the pre-configured IP restriction (used for the Testing Center) or click Custom IP Filter (original only).
To create a custom IP filter follow the steps in the below section.
Click Submit to apply the IP restriction to this test.
Create Custom IP filters (Original only)
Custom IP filters are currently only available in Blackboard Original. When a Custom IP Filter is chosen, the user must Assign Allowed and Blocked IPs manually. Any IP Restriction must include the Allowed IPs and a Block line asterisk wildcard as indicated below. This is required to ensure unapproved locations are successfully blocked.
Click Custom IP Filter, from the drop down box; the IP Filter Rules text box will appear.
Type ALLOW, a Space and then type the IP Address for each IP approved for testing.
Type a Slash (/) followed by another IP address to include a range of approved addresses.
Type BLOCK, a Space and then an Asterisk (*) to ensure the test is only accessible through the approved IP addresses (block all non-approved IP addresses).
Click Submit to apply the IP restrictions.
After an instructor creates a set of Custom IP Filter Rules, those rules are available to the same instructor when setting IP Filter Rules for future assessments.
