The WVU Parent/Guest Portal is the exclusive method by which a University student may grant third-party access to his or her records. Disclosure of information that is protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), such as grades, financial aid details, and student account information, is maintained in a secure online environment. A student may grant permission to a parent or guest to access this information through this portal.

Due to the protection of students’ rights under FERPA, a student may restrict the information that a parent or guest is able to access and revoke access at any time. For FERPA updates and more information, go to ferpa.wvu.edu.

The Parent/Guest Portal is available from 12:00 P.M. Sunday through 11:00 P.M. Saturday, except for Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 1:30 a.m. – 4:30 a.m. EST due to system maintenance.

For students - How to grant access to a parent/guest

For a step-by-step guide, see How to Grant Access to a Parent/Guest: Step by Step Guide for Students.

For frequently asked questions, see Parent/Guest Portal FAQ for Students.

If the Parent/Guest Portal link is missing, log out of the WVU Portal and log into STAR directly at star.wvu.edu. You may need to clear your browser cache as well.

For parents/guests - How to access the student record for the first time

For a step-by-step guide, see Accessing a Student Record via the Parent/Guest Portal for the First Time.

For frequently asked questions, see Parent/Guest Portal FAQ for Parents.

For parents/guests - Returning to the Parent/Guest Portal

If you wish to access a student’s record through the parent/guest portal after activating your account for the first time, return to the Parent/Guest Portal site. This site contains the URL for the Proxy Login Page. Click on that link and use the login credentials you established when activating your account.

If you are an individual with a disability who needs an alternative format of the instructions document, contact the Office of Disability Services at ataccess2@mail.wvu.edu.
