WVU offers HPC (High Performance Computing) resources for WVU research staff and faculty through the ITS Research Computing Group. HPC refers to the practice of aggregating computing power in a way that delivers much higher performance than out of a typical desktop computer or workstation to solve large problems.

WVU HPC is a community-led, peer-driven effort to ensure WVU maintains a lead in many fields of research that require powerful, low-latency computing including molecular physics, computational neurosciences, advanced materials research and NanoSAFE. Over 3,000 cores are available to researchers on two systems, Mountaineer and Spruce Knob.
