Mobile ID allows mobile devices to act as a user's Mountaineer ID Card at certain locations on campus.

Download the Mobile ID app

  1. Visit the Apple Store or Google Play to download the free CBORD Mobile ID app to your smart device.
Note: If you're unable to download or open the app, try updating your device. The Mobile ID app requires OS 4.3 or later for Android devices and iOS 9.0 or later for Apple devices.

  2. Once you install and open the app, you will need to authenticate your device. Tap the dropdown arrow and search for West Virginia University or enter https://mymountaineercard.wvu.edu/ in the Server URL field.

  3. Tap Authenticate my device.

  4. You will be prompted to enter your WVU Login credentials. Enter your username and password and authenticate with Duo.

  5. Tap Authorize.

  6. Once your device is authorized, the app will display your Mountaineer Card photo and it will be ready for use.

Set a PIN for extra security

  1. Tap the Settings gear icon.

  2. Tap Set PIN.

  3. Create a four-digit PIN and confirm your entry. Once set, the PIN must be entered before completing an action in the Mobile ID app.

  4.  You can tap Change PIN or Remove PIN under Settings at any time.

Unlock doors

  1. From your device settings, allow Mobile ID to access your location while you are using the app.

  2. Open the Mobile ID app and tap Choose

  3. Select the door you are trying to unlock. The doors available will change, based on your location and building access privileges.

  4. Once you select the appropriate door, tap GO. You will see the light on the door lock turn from red to green. Once it turns green, you have eight seconds to open the door.

Start laundry machines

  1. Find the four-digit Mobile ID Location number listed near the laundry machine you want to use.

  2. Enter this number in the Mobile ID app and then drag your finger across the CBORD icon to virtually “swipe” your card. This emulates an actual Mountaineer Card swipe and will deduct the appropriate amount from your Mountie Bounty plan.

Use Mobile ID for classroom attendance

View the Classroom Attendance Monitoring article for information about logging attendance, reviewing attendance history and changing your notification preferences.
