File Size Limits

The following limits have been placed on the amount of data users can store in eCampus:

  • Students, instructors, and individual file uploads are all limited to 20MB.

  • Courses are limited to 500MB.

Checking Course Quota Size:

If an instructor is unable to add a document to the eCampus course or receives this error message: "Action not complete. Adding the selected content to the specified folder causes the folder to exceed its quota," check the course quota size to make sure it hasn't exceeded its limit:

  1. Log into eCampus and navigate to the course.

  2. On the Control Panel, click expand on Content Collection.

  3. Click on the Course ID. (Example: star10000.201808)

  4. Within the Content Collection, click the drop-down menu at the end of the Course ID.

  5. Click 360° View.

  6. The Folder Size displays the current size of the course. Check to make sure the course has not exceeded the quota size.

Additional Information:

The overall content collection for each course is limited to 500MB. At 400MB, users will be notified that they are close to the limit. Course sections that exceed 500MB present numerous problems when copying content into future sessions. In order to restore disk space to a course, instructors need to navigate through course content collections and delete any unused or unnecessary files such as images, videos, and audio. Large PDF or PowerPoint files can also quickly fill a course.
