Midterm ESCF surveys are now counted as optional surveys after the recent upgrade to Blue 8. Instructors must opt-in to conduct midterm surveys by completing all survey tasks then launching . To conduct an ESCF survey, instructors must complete the survey setup tasks and launch the survey.

Follow the steps below to opt-in set up and launch a midterm an ESCF survey. :

  1. You will receive an email Inviting you to partake in the Early Semester Course Feedback project when it’s ready. Click on the ESCF Dashboard link to go to your dashboard and begin your setup. 

  2. You will see all courses currently available on your dashboard with a Pending status. Click Create to to opt -in to into the midterm ESCF survey and begin setup.

If you accidentally opt-in, or change your mind for about a course and no longer want to opt-out of the midterm conduct an ESCF survey, toggle the Yes option to No.  

  1. After you click create, you You will see a management screen with all tasks that must be completed before launching the midterm ESCF survey: .

    • Choose your questions: Click > to set see questions for the survey. The questions are preset /noneditable for Midterm ESCF assessment by the Teaching and Assessment Committee (TACo); however, you can write your own open-ended question if you like. Follow the prompts for the Create Custom-Worded Questions section to add your own question.
      You must click Submit . Optional, pre-written Likert scale question are in the Selection Questions region. To add a question, click the Include button for each question you wish to add. You must click Submit at the top or bottom of the screento complete this task. Saving only saves your choices for later review.

    • Choose timing:

      • Scheduled: This option allows you to schedule your survey by setting a Start and End Date. Term information will be displayed below this field so the proper date range can be entered.

      • Manual: This option turns off all scheduled selections; the system will not email students or automatically start the survey. The instructor will be responsible for the Start and Stop functions of the survey (found in the Manage Settings section), as well as the notifications to the students.

  2. Check the box next to I have finished my tasks, please stop sending me reminders. This will stop any further reminder emails related to the management tasks.

  3. Click Launch.

  4. You will see a confirmation message.

    • Click Yes, I’m sure to activate the survey. Scheduled surveys will begin on their assigned start date. Manual surveys will present you with the Start/Stop options.

    • Click No, cancel to stop the process. You can continue to review your survey settings then click Launch again when ready to continue.

  5. After confirming, you’ll return to view your Dashboard. Your Task task list will show Ready with all subtasks marked complete with a green checkmark.

If you need to confirm or chage change any dates, or change any open-ended questions, click Manage Settings. If you selected to launch a manual survey you will also see the start and stop Start/Stop functions.
