SPSS

SPSS is a comprehensive and flexible statistical analysis and data management system. SPSS can take data from almost any type of file and use them to generate tabulated reports, charts and plots of distributions and trends, descriptive statistics, and complex statistical analyses.

Licensing restrictions

Licensee may only use these programs for teaching and non-commercial academic research on computers owned or leased by Licensee. Non-commercial academic research means research by degree-seeking students and faculty members where:

• The results of such research are not intended primarily for the benefit of a third party

• Such results are made available to anyone without restriction on use, copying or further distribution

• Any copy of any such result is furnished for no more than the cost of hosting, reproduction, and shipping. Any other use including but not limited to university administration and operations is strictly prohibited

Eligibility

Faculty can purchase this software for WVU owned computers or personal computers.

Staff (Academic Researchers) can purchase this software for WVU-owned computers or personal computers.

Students can purchase this software for their Personal computers using personal funds. If a student worker, GA, GRA etc., needs this software on a WVU computer for academic research purposes, they will need to have their supervisor submit the request. Note: This software is available to students for free through Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).

How to order SPSS

WVU funds: Complete the SLIC Software Request Form if purchasing this with WVU funds. All licenses for WVU-owned computers need to be paid for with WVU funding. Once your order is submitted, SLIC will send you an invoice for your order along with instructions on how to make payment.

Personal funds: Complete the SLIC Software Request Form if purchasing this with personal funds. All licenses paid for with personal funds need to be installed on personally-owned computer.

Note: When purchasing an SPSS license for use on a WVU computer, the licensee will also receive an AMOS license for use on the same WVU computer. This includes faculty, concurrent and teaching lab licenses.

Pricing

Note:  All licenses are annual subscriptions expiring September 30th of each year and are prorated quarterly. Pricing is per machine. Each machine on which the software is installed requires its own license. Concurrent licenses are excluded from this rule. A personal computer is a computer owned by a faculty, student or researcher of WVU. Other restrictions may apply.
