Zoom Webinars are designed so that the host and any designated panelists can share their video, audio and screen and present to view-only attendees. Zoom Meetings are slightly different in design and meant to be a collaborative event with all participants being able to screen share, turn on their video and audio, and see who else is in attendance (note that meeting features can be modified and controlled at the host level). Zoom's Webinar and Meeting Comparison page explains the differences in more detail.

Alternatively, hosts can set up a Zoom meeting to function similarly to a webinar. View Hosting a Zoom Meeting like a Webinar for more information.

How to reserve a Zoom webinar

The WVU Teaching and Learning Commons (TLC) has two Zoom webinar 1,000 licenses available to reserve. To check availability and reserve a license, use WVU’s 25 LIVE. This step-by-step video shows you how.

Zoom only allows for webinars to be set up with a start time of 30 minutes or hour (example: a start time can be 11:00 am or 11:30 am, but not 11:15 am or 11:45 am).

After reserving your webinar time, submit a ticket to TLC mentioning that you have already saved your event in 25 LIVE. Be sure to include the event date, start time, end time, and title.

How to purchase a Zoom webinar license

Submit an ITS Purchase Request to purchase a webinar license for your Zoom account. You will be asked for funding information and notified when your license is approved.

How to use Zoom webinars

WVU Zoom Webinars allow panelists to present with video, audio, and screen sharing up to 500 view-only attendees. They include registration, question and answer, chat, polling, hand raising, attention indicators, and recording. More information is available through Zoom:
