Follow the troubleshooting steps for these Java exception errors that may prevent you from logging in to MAP or launching forms:

General exception: Your security settings have blocked a self-signed application from running

Follow the steps below if you can’t successfully log in to MAP after receiving this error message.

  1. Sign in to MAP. Choose a navigation path.

  2. In the message at the bottom, choose Keep.

  3. Click jnlp. Choose Open.

  4. You may receive an error message that the application was blocked by Java security. Click OK.

  5. From your computer’s Start menu, type Configure Java.

  6. In the Java Control Panel, click the Security tab.

  7. Click Edit Site List.

  8. Click the Add button.

  9. Enter the URL of the instance in the Location field and click OK. For example, for MAP Production, enter https://mapprod.wvu.edu and click OK.

    Other possible URLs:

    • https://mapfinal.wvu.edu

    • https://mapdev.wvu.edu

    • https://maptest.wvu.edu

  10. Click OK in the Security tab.

  11. Try logging in again, repeating steps one through three.

General exception: Exit Exception JAR resources in JNLP file are not signed by the same certificate.

Follow the steps below to clear your Java cache if you can’t launch forms in MAP after receiving this Java error message.

  1. Press the Windows Key or click the Start menu icon to open the Start Menu.

  2. Type Configure Java and open the Configure Java shortcut to open the Java Control Panel.

  3. In the Java Control Panel, under the General tab, click Settings under the Temporary Internet Files section.
    The Temporary Files Settings dialog box appears.

  4. Click Delete Files on the Temporary Files Settings dialog.
    The Delete Files and Applications dialog box appears.

  1. Click OK on the Delete Files and Applications dialog. This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache.

  2. Click OK on the Temporary Files Settings dialog.
