Groups in eCampus Ultra
You might sometimes be required to submit an assignment to be graded as a group. Your instructor may also use groups for posting or grading discussions. Here are some basics for using groups in eCampus Ultra.
Blackboard Anthology Help: Groups
Viewing Groups
If you have been assigned to a group (or asked to join a group), you can see which assessments or discussions are assigned for your group on the Groups tab inside the course.
Log into eCampus, and open the eCampus Ultra course.
Click the Groups tab at the top of the course.
Click the drop-down arrow to expand the Group Set your group is in.
Click show members to see who is in your group.
If the instructor wants you to choose a group, click Join a group to participate under an assignment name. Then click Join to be in the group of your choice.
Submitting Assignments with a Group
Your instructor can assign activities for groups, where you might receive a group grade or individual grades for your participation.
Log into eCampus, and open the eCampus Ultra course.
On the Course Content page, you will be able to see if any assignment requires group participation by the group name link below the assignment.
Click on the Assignment Title to begin your part of the group assignment. The assignment’s details & information panel will appear.
Clicking the linked group name will take you to the group’s page, showing all items available to the group.
Review the details about the assignment, such as the due date, number of attempts allowed, grading, and group members assigned. Click Start attempt when ready to begin.
The assignment page will open, where your instructor will have supplied information about the assignment you are to complete with your group.
Follow the guidance provided by your instructor to work with your group and upload a paper, compose a response, craft a project, submit a video, etc.
In the Submission section, you can drag-and-drop files into the box, or just click the box to type (or paste) your submission into eCampus Ultra.
When your group is ready to submit their assignment, click the Submit button.
If you’re still working, you can click Save and Close to resume the assignment later.
A pop-up will ask if you are sure you want to submit on behalf of your group. Click Submit to continue.
Another pop-up will announce that your submission was successful, and display the submission date and time, and confirmation number. You can download a receipt file containing this information.
After the assignment has been submitted, you can see the grading status on the assignment Details & Information panel.
Click the View submission button to see any feedback from your instructor addressed to the whole group, or to individuals.
Participating in Discussions with a Group
Groups in discussions might be used to provide a space to work on joint projects, or just to encourage everyone to feel free to speak up. Group discussions can be graded, or ungraded. Group discussions can only be seen by members of that group, and instructors.
Click Discussions at the top of the course to see a list of discussion topics. Any discussions that are assigned by groups will show the group name in the item.
Click on the group discussion to view any posts.
Read the Discussion Topic shared by your instructor, and review the other details:
Details & Information - see the Due Date to respond, how Grading will be determined for this discussion, and the Author of this thread.
Group Name - view the Members of this discussion group, or search for a member by name.
In the Responses area, click in the “Type a response” box to type or paste in your answer to the question or thoughts about the topic. Use the formatting tools as desired, or use the link, attachment, or insert content buttons to share other content.
While typing up your response, you can click the Save Draft link in the lower left to keep what you’ve typed so far, without submitting it to the discussion.
When you are ready to share your response, click the Respond button in the lower right. Your post will appear on the page, and the number of responses at the top will be updated.
If your instructor has permitted editing, you can click the ellipsis (…) at the upper right to choose to Edit or Delete your post.
Click the underlined Reply link at the bottom of any response to add your own thoughts.
Viewing Your Grade
After the assignment or discussion has been graded, you will see your grade on the Gradebook tab of the course, just like any other assignment. Viewing the Submission after grading will reveal two tabs in the Feedback area. If the instructor provided feedback, the Group tab will show the instructor’s overall feedback for the group, and the Individual tab will show the instructor’s feedback for your individual effort.
Your grade may differ from the grade other members of the group received, if the instructor assigned individual grades.
