Update or Renew a SAS or JMP License

For SAS and JMP licensing information, including options and prices, visit the SLIC Software ListThe West Virginia University Software License Information Center (SLIC) sells annual subscriptions for SAS and JMP that expire on September 30th of every year. To update your license, you first must purchase a new license and then apply the new license files. If you have not purchased a new license yet, visit the Software for Personally Owned Computers article.

Update a SAS license file

  1. Close SAS.

  2. Select Start > Programs > SAS > Utilities > Renew SAS Software.

  3. Right-click Renew SAS Software and select Run As Administrator. If a "User Access Control" dialog box appears, click Allow.

  4. Find the SAS license file on your machine. Select the file and click Open.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Verify the operating system and SAS products and then click OK.

  7. Click Renew. JMP will prompt you or a new license file at launch if your current license file has expired.

Update a JMP license before it expires

  1. Start JMP.

  2. Select the following menu command: File > New > Script

  3. Type the following command into the script window: Renew License();

  4. Run the script by selecting the following menu command: Edit > Run Script

  5. JMP will ask for the new license data file.

  6. Navigate to the license file and select it. JMP should then process the license file and run normally.
