Virus Removal

Virus removal for WVU-Owned computers

Contact your desk side support if you think you have a virus on a WVU-owned computer. If your desk side support is not listed below, check the Unit-Specific Support page in the Knowledge Base.

Think you have a virus on a personal computer?

  • Run antivirus software. If you do not have antivirus software installed on your computer, you can download anti-virus software for free by following these instructions.

  • If your antivirus software cannot remove the virus, it should at least be able to provide basic information about the virus. Search for the virus online to learn how to remove it from your computer.

  • If you need help cleaning the virus off your computer, for a fee, ITS Service Centers can perform basic virus removal.
