Change or Reset WVU Login Password
If your password is near expiration, you forget your password or need to reset it for any reason, follow the instructions below. You will receive an automated email warning when your password is near expiration. Passwords for current students, faculty, and staff expire after one year. Former students' passwords expire every 180 days, and WVU Police employees' passwords expire every 90 days.
If you are working remotely, please connect to the VPN before changing your password to prevent getting locked out of your device. See Change Your Login Password While Working Remotely for more information.

If you are a Shared User with a dual role at WVU Medicine, visit wvumedicine.org/login to change your password or manage your account.
Know your password?
Log into okta.wvu.edu (login.wvu.edu).
In the top-right corner, click your name to open a drop-down menu.
Select Account Settings.
Click Manage security methods.
Click Update in the Password section then click Yes to confirm you want to reset your password.
Enter a new password and click Reset Password.
Forgot your password?
Go to okta.wvu.edu (login.wvu.edu).
Enter your username and click Next. If you don’t know your username, use the Login/WVUID Lookup.
Click Forgot password?.
Click Select next to your email.
Select an authentication method. Receive an Okta push notification, enter a passcode from the Okta app, or receive an email to your secondary/personal email associated with your account.
If you select the email option, open the Reset Password link in the same browser you initiated the password change. Using a different browser or device will direct you to a security code page, requiring you to enter the code in the original browser window to continue.
Enter a new password and click Reset Password.
