Instructors are prompted to manage General exam settings after adding an exam. General settings include mandatory fields, like the exam title and type, and other basics. Instructors can also manage optional Advanced settings to define delivery options and insert special messages.

General exam settings

The General Tab will open automatically after you’ve clicked to add an exam. This is where you will define the basic exam settings, including the Exam Title and Exam Type which are mandatory fields.

The exam type is set to Standard exam by default which means that the exam can only be taken once. Choosing Self-Study means that the exam may be taken multiple times.

If you choose self-study you can use the drop down menu to decide how to grade the exam. There are three options for Scoring: High Score, Last Score, or Average Score. You can also choose the Maximum number of attempts for a self-study exam. This will automatically be set to an unlimited number but you can use the drop down menu to choose between 1 and 10 attempts.

Additional settings, which are optional, are available within the General tab:

Advanced exam settings

The Advanced Settings tab contains optional settings that define delivery options and insert special messages.

  1. Exam Delivery Settings

  2. Student Messages - The messages section gives you the option to define specific exam directions for students and to write a completion message to be displayed once students have finished the exam.

  3. Student Reporting Level
